Just a little
bit about me……
I spent my
childhood wandering around the rolling green hills
of San Diego County, followed by teenage years of
listening to music, drawing and painting, partying
and looking for short cuts. I had picked up the
guitar a few times but did not seem destined to be
the one-millionth guy to play a perfect copy of
“Stairway to Heaven”. No matter, I still loved
listening to Yes, Jethro Tull, Rush, Steeley Dan,
etc.
After a mildly
dramatic end to my teenage years, I enrolled in the
prestigious school of “Hard Knocks” and was
sentenced to several years of landscape construction
in the triple digit weather of Phoenix Arizona.
While lying nearly unconscious from heat stroke and
contemplating the course of my life, I decided it
was time for a change. A good friend offered me an
opportunity to combine my construction work ethic
with drawing and painting. I moved back to San
Diego to become a sign painter. This was followed
by one more great stroke of luck. Sitting quietly
in a closet for many years was an old D-35 Martin.
A guitar whose sweet tone didn’t expect me to play
other peoples music, but rather helped me find my
own voice.
And now,
thousands of signs, one wife, two kids, and many
shoe boxes full of song ideas and a half a dozen
guitars later….. Lady Luck has smiled upon me again
in the form of 3 great friends who are gifted
musicians. Together we are beggars clothes.
